Abstract
Written many letters, not received any reply. Longing for change and wants to learn new arrangements that have or will take place if treaty is concluded. Do not mean political changes. Much rather be mistress of a dairy and farm home than return to Spain, although the latter the worst that could happen. Who of friends will return to New York once evacuated? Asks about family and friends, wants to w rite as when "in the intimacy of friendship our letters were the faithful portraits of our hearts." With more hope for friends, wants to know more details of their situations. Once less uneasy will collect 'novelties' for their entertainment. Mr. Mason brings some gifts with him, including fans worn by people of the first quality. Very pleased with dress [in France]; both "gentlemen and ladies is remarkably simple." Wishes Peter to begin correspondence with Susan's assistance.
