- One of his first inquiries on reaching America was to inquire after Jay and the means of greeting him. Regrets the distance and duties which required him to postpone a visit. Is going to Washington to be introduced to the members of the Houses and to thank them for their invitation to America. Wishes he could say when he will be able to visit Jay, but will know only after some time.
