- Abstract
- Acknowledges Peter Jay's letter of 22 January. Is willing to take in Augustus. Will not instruct him himself in reading and writing, but will send him to a good schoolmaster. As soon as he can read well, will tutor him in Latin. Augustus can in time be a companion to Johnson's own son, a year younger, than Augustus, and already considerably advanced in Latin. Sends complements from his wife, Miss N icoll and Nicolas Stuyvesant.
