- Abstract
- Because of their clothing, the Pennsylvania troops determined to march home in body. They reached Princeton, where President of Congress Joseph Reed and Lafayette found means to appease them. It can be inferred that they returned. Enemy forces are still in Virginia, and the Chesapeake is entirely blocked by them. In the Philadelphia paper of January 9 is an account of Tarlteton's legion having been cut to pieces by the Americans under Colonel Clarke. If this proves true, it is a great success. Livingston will set out for Bordeaux in a few days.
