- Abstract
- Writes from L'Orient. Many American vessels are here, and three are ready to sail for Philadelphia. Colonel Palfrey is coming to France as Consul General. Mr. Wharton conjectures that Laurens' mission to France is for his father's exchange, while Colonel Moyland thinks he's been sent to negotiate a loan. It is reported that Arnold left New York with 15,000 men on a secret expedition. No great chang es have taken place among Jay's acquaintances. Mr. Bingham has married Miss Willing. Sir James is in Philadelphia. A Colonel Livingston was killed in duel. Reflects on horrors of dueling. Regarding the rich prizes taken by the Saratoga, they have all been retaken. Three page document with three page typescript.
