- Abstract
- Apologizes for not writing sooner. Encloses a letter for Mrs. Jay from Mrs. Meredith at Trenton. Regrets that they did not agree on a cypher. The lack of it prevents Morris from writing about many matters. The Livingston family had moved to Elizabeth Town but had to leave after a while because they were threatened by the "British", as our soldiers call the British. De Ternay is anxiously awaited, a nd, hopefully, the campaign will still end favorably for the allies. Mr. Duir and Lady Kitty are at their farm in the North River. Gouverneur Morris has lost his leg but is getting well again.
