- Abstract
- Wants Jay to come to Congress for the debates on independence, a confederation and a treaty plan. Hopes the first will be opposed and wisdom infused into the other two. Occupied with Dickinson's plan of union although thinks it is too centralized in structure to succeed. It would be the ruin of the southern colonies and subject the continent to the dominance of the eastern provinces. Dreads their l ow cunning and leveling principles which are the ideas of men without character and fortune. They captivate the lower classes and will induce a great fluctuation in property. Congress should have no more power than is absolutely necessary.
