Title:
Document, 1798 April 16
Abstract:
Has consented to the publication of a print from his last portrait by Stuart. Arrange about selling the coach after the election, since the opposition "would not omit to make even such a Circumstance the Subject of animadversion." The confidence and security over the success of the election may expose it to hazard. As to the publication of the dispatches from Paris, John Jay would not be surprised "if the leading Partizans of France should see nothing in them to inculpate the Directory or nation," so strong is the delusion seemingly spread throughout the country.
