- Abstract
- Has news of capitulation of Charleston, and does not know what effect the news will have in Madrid. Hopes that a good explanation of the surrender will be forth coming. Hopes Ternay's squadron will touch at Halifax, thereby weakening the position of the English fleet in American waters. Once this campaign is over Adams will have something to do, for all of the belligerents want peace, only George I II's pride may induce him to continue the war- and possibly lose his crown. What has happened to Mr. Laurens? Sends a letter to Mr. and Mrs. Izard via Adams. Regards to Dana. John Jay's family has been increased by birth of a daughter last week.
