Abstract
Jay judges that Floridablanca will follow the policy of acknowledging American independence and will give aid in the hope of lasting attachments. Sir John Dalrymple is here at Aranjuez. He has seen the imperial Ambassador, the governor of the city, the Duke of Alva, and several others suggested to him by Lord Grothem, who was much respected here. Jay will go to Aranjuez to form some judgment of his success.
