Abstract
Sends Paris Gazette and some bills for acceptance by Jay. Most news from abroad is bad: French were cut to pieces at Jersey, Solano's fleet returned in a shattered condition to Havana. Letters from Holland were costly in terms of postage but contained little news. Jay should be surprised if his letters have not come, for the French ambassador has not mentioned letters from Philadelphia either.
