- Abstract
- The one they expect apparently comes from Santo Domingo. Two people are at St. Ildefonso who resemble the family, Carmichael is tired of the suspense. La Luzerne's letters are not known to C., although he does know Montmorin received one; surmises La Luzerne follows in Mr. Gerard's steps. "Our friend Burke is particularly mentioned in the letter..."--which one C. does not say. From Cumberland's cou ntenance, he gathers that his business in Spain draws to a close. Carmichael is puzzled by the nature of the business, for he is assured that the war will continue.
