Abstract
In order to explain the paragraph in the Herald which stated that John Jay could not conceive of any Federalist voting for a candidate of the Clinton party, he proposes an answering statement. This explains that John Jay would not disqualify a candidate for the sole reason that he is a member of that particular party.
