Abstract
Writes of the bankruptcy of Messrs de la Lande & Fynye, one of the banking firms involved in the Dutch loan. Had Willink, Van Staphorst been entrusted with the entire loan this would not have happened. Calls Jay's attention to fact that he had intelligence of de la Lande's financial instability, told this to Adams six months before failure. This letter contains a postscript commending C.W.F. Dumas to Jay's attention.
