Autograph Letter signed. English are on the defensive in every part of the country. Public spirit has revived and the South is making exertions far beyond what was thought possible. The army is in New York, but the Spanish gave a capitulation to the garrison at Pensacola which permitted enemy reinforcements at New York or any other part of the United States. Reinforcements for the English have alre ady arrived in New York as a result of this faux pas. "Mr. Huntington has lately resigned the chair to which Mr. Johnson of North Carolina was elected, but he has declined the honor and Mr. McKean from the state of Delaware has been since chosen." as President of the Continental Congress.
