- Abstract
- After discussing Jay's personal affairs concerning his house in Madrid and the sale of his mules by Carmichael, he goes on to matters of public interest. The Spanish Court will allow an English vessel brought into Cadiz by a part of the American crew who captured her to be sold there. He is trying to get the Court to lower the duties imposed on American ships coming from French and Spanish islands. Has no letters from Livingston since May, none from Franklin since Jay's arrival in Paris and only one from Jay since the latter left Madrid.
