Abstract
Rumors in Spain are that Greene has defeated the British in the South and that Cornwallis is killed. Expects next year will bring talk of peace, but rather doubts it until the successful completion of one more campaign against the British. Only more losses and defeats will dissuade them from their delusions concerning America. Glad Gouverneur Morris is in Congress. Note appended, date d. 1 December 1781- congratulations on the defeat of Cornwallis.-prepare if more strenuous efforts will be required.
