- Abstract
- Jay says his not writing at Martinique was a presumption on rather than a neglect of his friendship for Livingston. Jay congratulates Livingston on the addition to his family and tells him of the loss of his little girl. Mrs. Jay in good health. (Some material in cipher.) Warm attachment to friends. The more known of the world the more Jay prizes the few good plants he finds in it. Cannot think out loud in Spain. His heart in America. Sends some melon seeds. Cautions to decipher the letter on a separate piece of paper and destroy it immediately.
