Abstract:
Jay made no representation to the French Admiral through Mr. Gerard. Met the Governor and officers of the island. Would not agree with Gerard that the ship Confederacy should be convoyed by French frigates to France when the inferiority of the French fleet in the Caribbean put them at a disadvantage viz-a-viz the English. Later that day it was decided to sail for France on the French ship Aurora.
