- Abstract
- Jay appointed to treat with Spain and Adams to treat with Great Britain. Carmichael will be Jay's secretary and Francis Dana to Adams. The ministers to receive 2500 pounds and the secretaries 1000 pounds. Franklin asked to supply them each with 2000 livres d'or in distributions proportioned to the irrespective salaries. Congress will shortly take meas ures for paying back this sum.
