Abstract
Acknowledges receipt of 16 August. John Jay already knows about Deane's situation, and hopes that his conduct will justify John Jay's high opinion of him. If Deane should come to New York, John Jay would very much like to see him. John Jay sends cryptic thanks for Morris' interest in Sir James Jay. John Jay hopes to have an opportunity to speak to his brother in the near future. He also sends respe cts to Robert Morris, and news that Mrs. Jay, who is in good health, is in New Jersey.
