Abstract
Since Jay left a courier has arrived from Cadiz with news from America. From this courier and from the English papers, it is surmised that Charleston is well defended. Intelligence also indicates that British are withdrawing troops from outposts around New York, and that an invasion fleet left Havana for Florida. Hopes that air at Madrid will restore John Jay's health.
