Since he knew that the Confederacy
            sailed on October 28th, he had nearly despaired of hearing from him again. Responds to
            Jay's advice concerning bill of exchange drawn by Jay on Franklin, and orders Jay to pay
            Mr. William Carmichael the sum of 1800 livres. Credit for Jay has been established with
            one Marquis d'Yranda and a letter of introduction is enclosed. Yranda may be of other
            assistance to Jay, and is a valuable friend and acquaintance. This Yranda seems to be a
            different person from Count D'Aranda, then Spanish ambassador to
