- Abstract
- Jay has received very few letters. The Spanish treaty is impeded by the affair of the Mississippi. Cumberland is still here. He left here a few days ago, but he is expected back soon. Jay wonders what he is doing in Spain. There is always danger to apprehend from such a spy so situated. There are many "inquisitive, communicative, and some say friendly Irishmen."
