- Abstract
- They are awaiting the return of Sullivan and the arrival of the New England militia levies. Then they will be in a position to move in concert with Admiral d'Estaing, either against New York or Rhode Island. Gates is also assembling his troops. Suggests American frigates ordered to the southward may, with value, be ordered north to assist Estaing in n avigating the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. Marine Committee should be aware that American troops operating against Rhode Island or New York will need to be supplied by sea.
