- Abstract
- Yesterday read an arret of the King of France, published in a Leyden gazette: a bounty promised to importers of fish from French fisheries, into French West Indies, to Spain, Portugal or Italy. French fish an important commodity to American and English market, but Carmarthen would not comment. Discussion of Carmarthen's character; Pitt's shift in poli tical sentiments. Comment on proceedings at Charleston of the 15th August. American policy. Comments on England: "this nation is strongly blinded by prejudice and passion...there is a prohibition of the truth, arising from popular anger...Scribblers for bread are wholly occupied in abusing the United States."
