Abstract:
Acknowledges receipt of John Jay's letter. Lansdown has done everything he could on John Jay's behalf. The new principles of trade and finance are making progress among the people. Lansdown believes they will succeed after some initial prejudice against them, if they are not too vigorously voiced. Lansdown is happy to hear that the United States "has taken a solid consistence upon those wise and comprehensive Foundations, which you stated to me."
