- Abstract
- Acknowledges receipt of 13 and 20 April. Washington was glad to receive the box of medicine mentioned in James Jay's letter of 13 April, because he had already used up all the medicine previously given to him. Washington has directed Colonel May to help Sir James in setting up "a small laboratory, from which I hope you will derive improvement and amus ement and the public some advantages. "Washington has already indicated to General Howe his consent that Sir James "expend as much powder as can be conveniently spared in ascertaining those points in Gunnery, which you are anxious to know by actual experiments provided all matters are quiet."
