Letterbook copy. He hopes John and Sarah Jay arrive safely in Madrid.
Advocates John Jay's cultivation of a correspondence with the Baron Van der Capellan "in
order to learn the politics of his Republic." The Baron is interested in America, and
could correspond with Brockholst. Encloses a duplicate of his letter to the Baron. He
hopes Brockholst will keep a journal in Spain and especially in regard to the collection
of shrub and melon seeds. P.S. Congress has passed a Resolution respecting the currency
which he abstracts.
