To his nephew, Peter Jay Munro regarding the death of Munro's mother, John Jay's sister [Eve Jay Munro]. In part: " ... William informs me that she was apprized of her situation, and entirely resigned -- this is a consoling reflection .. I wish m y health would permit me to go with him; but it is such, as to deny me the satisfaction of paying that mark of respect to my sister..." 149 words in Jay's hand, signed, with Peter Munro's docket appearing on verso. very fine.... $200.00"
