Abstract
He has decided to resign his appointment to the Court of Spain and has been named in a commission for a treaty of commerce with Great Britain. There is therefore no probability that he will be returning to Madrid. Instructs Carmichael to relinquish his house in Madrid and to sell his coach and harness. According to the terms of an agreement with the furniture dealer, Jay should be able to get back three fourths of their original price since Jay is returning the furniture within the stipulated period of three years. The other furniture should be sold for whatever price offered. Other instructions for the sale or disposition of items belonging to Jay in Madrid are included, as well as a list of the papers related to this matter. They may not be seeing each other again but Jay will "always be ready to promote any measure which may be conducive to the success of your endeavors to serve our Country."
