Abstract
Franklin has not heard of the Act of Congress which Jay mentioned in his last letter. Colonel Diricks stopped here on his way to Holland but mentioned nothing of his business in Holland except to see his friends. Franklin agrees that the expedition to Canada ought to be deferred. Recommends La Luzerne. News from England is that the fear of a war with Spain is beginning to create a general dispositi on for peace.
