- Abstract
- Because he believed that the British had landed on Staten Island and marched to Elizabeth, John Jay, very concerned, sent Dyckman to see if Sarah Livingston Jay needed anything. Praised her coolness during the scare. Is glad their son, Peter Jay, is weaned; she must take care of her health at any cost. Is she at Basking Ridge? The family is well at Rye. Mrs. Lawrence is still in poor health but the baby is fine. Asks to be remembered to her mother and sister, and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn.
