- Abstract
- Glad Jay is at Paris. Hopes he will write more fully as Congress does not have enough information on the European negotiation. The Congress will not negotiate with commissioners here. Most people here would want no alliance with the British. France would only sink in American eyes if she should uphold the Spanish pretension to more territory and exclusive navigation of the Mississippi. America stil l pressed for money and tax money comes in slowly.
