Abstract
Britain refused the mediation of Spain. Gerard thinks that they will not obtain aid from other powers. Russia, Prussia, and Austria favor France. There is no reason to suspect that the peace of Germany will soon be interrupted. Discusses the actions of the person who John Jay thought would faithfully execute the business that Washington wished to have done.
