- Abstract
- Attempts to explain the misinterpretation of a letter he wrote during his arrest in England in which he censures several public characters. Since neither Washington, Adams, nor Jay were "instrumental to the Durance or Calumny" of which he was then complaining, and since his censure of other public characters was neither indirect nor equivocal, it should be supposed he had no wish to point out the a bove-mentioned three.
