- Abstract
- The letter is written in English. Gardoqui says he has 12,000 hard dollars ready for John Jay and hopes he will apply for the money as soon as possible. He has just learned from Bilbao that the American brig Friendship commanded by Captain. Tracey arrived in Bilbao 30 days after leaving Newburyport and that she came with a fine prize from St. Kitts which the brig captured off the Bilbao bar. The ca rgo consists of sugar rum and indigo. Tracey brought no letters for John Jay but has a great many for Paris and Holland. He is enclosing some newspapers Travey forwarded, most of them old. He sends his respects to Mrs. Jay and his family.
