- Abstract
- Has received the invitation from the Corporation of the City of New York to attend the celebration of the anniversary of American Independence. Is grateful for the honor and regrets that the state of his health prevents his attendance. Hopes that the peace, happiness and prosperity enjoyed by our country will induce leaders to recommend "a general and public return of praise and thanksgiving to Him." We can best secure our civil and religious liberties by gratitude to their source.
