Abstract
He was sorry to hear of Pickman's losses in shipping ventures. As yet he has not written of Pickman's request to Washington, since the formalities of treaty ratification have not been completed. Jay is now writing to the President, and encloses a copy of his letter. From what he knows of Washington, there will not be a reply to the letter.
