- Abstract
- A friend of theirs, a Mr. D., applied to Jay for assistance in obtaining a New York land grant. After Jay had made arrangements with the Governor, the man decided to go West instead. Jay understands he now is applying to Congress for a grant of western lands, but thinks he will be disappointed. Asks Bancroft to visit him when the chance presents itself.
