- Abstract
- Received his letter inquiring about a John A. Schaeffer. Jay never signed are commendation for such a man. Has heard of a certain swindler who has defrauded many people in New York, and this may be the individual about whom Prescott inquires. Jay will inquire further, and report any information he may receive. A postscript states that Mr. Burr, his Secretary, informs him that the swindler's name is Schaeffer.
