- Abstract
- Believes has been condemned by Mrs. Jay for not breaking in her horses, on the word of an unknown man in Bedford. Can prove the contrary with many witnesses. Son went to New York to buy materials for Jay's mill and stopped at the Bank of New York with a counterfeit $40 bill. Having to go to the Supreme Court for that and continue to run the mill took up all his time in September; horses were not br oken in when Mrs. Jay sent for them. If Mr. Jay was home, he would not make such a hasty judgment. "Madam, although I am your Servant I am not your Slave ... " Will not ask pardon when denied it beforehand. Will meet with Mr. Jay in May to settle accounts and then look for another job.
