- [Document, 1777 December 26]
- Abstract
- Has received three letters from France, all of same import; encloses a copy of one letter. Military matters are managed strangely - Gates is playing with laurels at Albany, Putnam is eating oysters on the Sound. Jay is uneasy about the defense of the Highlands. The inquiry into the loss of the Fort should be hastened. The confederation will doubtless be ratified by our legislature.
