- Abstract
- Sends him a "Report of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions," since John Jay was elected a member at the last meeting. Hopes he will take a seat on the Board as his membership would add influence to their efforts. Introduces Jeremiah Evarts, treasurer of the organization, who wishes to write him more fully on the institution. Has as yet been unable to begin working on the contin uation of the history of the United States from the period at which Dr. Trumbull's concludes. The present times are very "interesting and gloomy;" however, the people's voice for peace must soon be heard and regarded at Washington.
