- Abstract
- Acts of late session of Congress. Satisfied with new penal laws on violation of neutrality and revenue measures. No internal revenue measures of an "inconvenient nature" had to be passed. Excise taxes from spirits bring in as much as expected. Hopes for peace have brought little rise in United States funds. This shows that it was not fear of war, but more attractive outlets for investment in Europe that drew capital from sale of United States bonds and bank stocks by large holders have made broader holding of property possible. All to good. Feels there is nothing to worry about in fiscal situation or state of United States credit.
