From the land granted to him by Charles II, James, Duke of York, in exchange for a sum of money, grants and confirms to John Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret all that tract of land called New Caesarea or New Jersey, bounded on the east by the sea and the Hudson River, on the west by the Delaware Bay or River, on the south as far as Cape May by the ocean, and on the north as far as the northeas t branch of the Delaware Bay or River which is in the latitude of 41 degrees 40' and crosses in a straight line to the Hudson River.
