Title:
Document, 1799 June 26
Abstract:
Sorry that PeterÆs effort to settle with Palmer did not succeed. If the Major had sold one of the two mares, the affair with Palmer would have been concluded. Secretary Hale goes to New York tomorrow. Sent a letter to General Hughes ordering establishment of a sixth regiment and enclosed a letter to General Stevens about the powder for the 4th of July. Sarah Livingston JayÆs health and strength has declined greatly; the sooner she goes to Rye the better. Remember to send a dozen good hams and a cask of good sherry. Shall get a saddle for William here; he should have a pony today.
