- Abstract
- Lamb is on his way to report on the Algerian situation to Congress. Jefferson has been spending funds to sustain the lives of American sailors shipwrecked on the French coast who were arrested by the Farmers-general as smugglers of tobacco. They finally were convicted, although Jefferson is still convinced of their innocence, and their vessel and its cargo was forfeited to the Farmers-general. Feel s that these funds were properly disbursed on the public service as citizens so much in need, are entitled to assistance from public servants. Duties on whale oil will continue reduced as hereto for.
