- Abstract
- Negotiations going on between the Emperor and the Netherlands, and between the Emperor and the Elector of Bavaria. It seems that Europe will enjoy peace for another year. France's assistance in the Dutch dispute with the Emperor seems indicative that France wants peace, else she would not alienate a potential wartime ally in Holland. If France is involved in a continental war, it might be considera bly more difficult for United States to settle outstanding differences with England.
