Abstract
Grenville has authorized John Jay to assure Washington that no instructions to stimulate or promote hostilities by Indians have been sent to Crown officers in Canada. As boat sails soon, cannot send him Grenville's official declaration, but has been permitted to make informal assurances. Treaty drawing toward conclusion.
